Weekend Classes for Adults: Saturday Training Options

If your weekdays are full, Saturday classes let you build a new skill without missing work. The Ayangbah Foundation offers three Saturday options for adults: Conversational Mandarin Chinese, Level 1, Microsoft Excel & Office Essentials, and QuickBooks Bookkeeping Essentials. Each one meets live online from anywhere in the U.S. or in person in downtown San Bernardino.

Why Saturday classes make sense

Evenings are not always easy. Work runs late, kids need dinner, and you are tired. Saturday mornings are often the one time of the week you can focus.

  • You learn when you are fresh, not after a long shift.
  • Longer Saturday sessions mean fewer total class days.
  • You do not have to ask for time off.

Option 1: Conversational Mandarin Chinese, Level 1

This is a speaking-first class taught in English. You learn pinyin, the four tones, greetings, numbers, time, shopping and directions, and you role-play in every class so you actually talk. It runs on Saturdays for 8 weeks, 16 hours in total. The class starts October 17, 2026, so seats are filling now. Read more in our post on the Mandarin speaking class or visit /mandarin.

Option 2: Microsoft Excel & Office Essentials

Two full Saturdays cover 12 hours of practical office skills: formulas, sorting, filtering, charts and a simple budget in Excel, plus Word documents, resumes and letters, and Outlook email and calendar. You finish with a portfolio spreadsheet project. These are skills almost every office job asks for.

Option 3: QuickBooks Bookkeeping Essentials

Two full Saturdays cover 12 hours of bookkeeping: company setup, customers and vendors, invoices, bills, payments, bank reconciliation, and reports such as the profit and loss and balance sheet. It is useful if you want admin or bookkeeping work, or if you run a small business and want to understand your own numbers.

Online or in person

Every Saturday class is offered both ways. Join the live class online from anywhere in the U.S., or come to 255 N. D Street, Suite #200-XXVII, San Bernardino, CA 92401. Online students take part in the same live session as the room.

For Mandarin, the online and in-person groups meet at different times, so check the schedule below and pick the one that fits.

FAQ

Can I take Mandarin and Excel on the same Saturday?

Mandarin ends December 12, 2026, and the Saturday Excel section starts January 9, 2027, so the dates do not overlap. You can take both, one after the other.

Do I need to buy anything?

For Mandarin, the instructor recommends a textbook that you buy separately. For Excel and QuickBooks, ask about software access when you apply or at the free Monday info session.

Are Saturday classes cheaper than weekday classes?

No. The price is the same for each class whichever section you choose: $297 for Mandarin, Excel or QuickBooks.
