Learn a New Skill After Work: Evening Classes for Working Adults

Yes, you can learn a new skill after work without giving up your paycheck. The Ayangbah Foundation runs evening classes for working adults, including Microsoft Excel & Office Essentials, QuickBooks Bookkeeping Essentials and an evening cohort of our Government Contracting Academy. Every class meets live online from anywhere in the U.S. or in person in downtown San Bernardino.

Why evening classes work for busy adults

Most adults who want to grow their careers already have a job, a family, or both. Daytime programs ask you to choose between learning and earning. Evening classes remove that choice.

Our evening classes are built for people who are tired at the end of the day. Sessions are hands-on, so you spend your time doing the work, not just listening. You leave each class with something finished: a spreadsheet, a set of books, a page of a proposal.

  • You keep your current job and income while you learn.
  • You can apply what you learn at work the very next morning.
  • Short courses mean a short commitment. Our Excel and QuickBooks classes run about two weeks.

Which evening class fits your goal?

Pick the class that matches the skill you want employers or clients to see.

Microsoft Excel & Office Essentials

Twelve hours on formulas, sorting, filtering, charts and a simple budget, plus Word documents, resumes and letters, and Outlook email and calendar. You finish with a portfolio spreadsheet project you can show in an interview. Read more in our post on Excel and Office classes.

QuickBooks Bookkeeping Essentials

Twelve hours on company setup, customers and vendors, invoices, bills, payments, bank reconciliation, and reports like the profit and loss and balance sheet. It is a practical choice if you want to move into office, admin or bookkeeping work, or keep books for your own business. See our QuickBooks class guide.

Government Contracting Academy, evening cohort

A 54-hour, 9-module program on how government buys, SAM.gov and certifications, finding opportunities, reading solicitations, writing proposals and grant narratives, pricing inputs and post-award contract administration. You build a career portfolio as you go. Details are on the Contracting Academy page.

Online or in person: your choice

Every class is offered both ways. Join live online from home, from anywhere in the U.S., or come to our classroom at 255 N. D Street, Suite #200-XXVII, San Bernardino, CA 92401. Online students attend the same live class, ask questions in real time and do the same projects.

If you commute, online can save you the drive. If you learn best with people around you, come in person. Either way, you get a real instructor and a real class, not a recording.
