Career Readiness Training: What You Learn in 40 Hours

In 40 hours of career readiness training, you learn the skills that help you get hired and grow: leadership, digital marketing, grants and financial literacy, and business development. With our career readiness training, Inland Empire students at The Ayangbah Foundation also get a career assessment and finish with their own 30/60/90-day plan.

If you are wondering whether a short program is worth your time, this post explains exactly what our certificate program covers and how it works.

What Is Career Readiness Training?

Career readiness training teaches the skills that work in almost any job. Instead of training you for one narrow role, it helps you understand your strengths, communicate clearly, manage money and plan your next steps.

Many people ask which course is best to get a job immediately. For adults who are not sure what field fits them, career readiness is often a smart first course because it supports every path that comes after it.

Career readiness training is a good fit if you are:

  • Looking for your first job or returning to work after time away
  • Changing careers and not sure where your skills fit
  • One of many dislocated workers rebuilding after a layoff
  • Thinking about starting a small business someday

Career Readiness Training: Inland Empire Schedule and Format

Our Career Readiness & Entrepreneurship Employment Training is designed for working adults and busy families in San Bernardino:

  • Length: 40 hours over 4 weeks
  • Schedule: Monday through Friday, 2 hours a day
  • Format: In person, in downtown San Bernardino
  • Cost: $0 for WIOA-eligible residents
  • Credential: A certificate when you complete the program
  • Next cohort: November 2026

No prior experience or diploma is required. That makes it one of the free job training programs for adults that is open to people starting from many different places.

What You Learn

The program covers four main topics:

  • Leadership. How to take initiative, work on a team and solve problems. These are skills employers look for at every level.
  • Digital marketing. The basics of how businesses reach customers online. This helps whether you work for an employer or want to start your own business.
  • Grants and financial literacy. How to manage money, read basic financial information and understand how grants work.
  • Business development. How businesses grow, find customers and plan for the future. This is useful for future entrepreneurs and employees alike.

Your Career Assessment and 30/60/90-Day Plan

Every student completes a career assessment. It helps you see your strengths, interests and the kinds of jobs that may fit you.

By the end of the program, you build a personal 30/60/90-day plan. This is a simple roadmap that breaks your goals into three stages:

  • First 30 days: Quick wins, like updating your resume or applying to a set number of jobs you choose.
  • Next 30 days: Building momentum, like networking or starting another training.
  • Final 30 days: Bigger steps, like landing a role or launching a small business.

This plan follows our pathway: Assess, Learn, Practice, Connect, Launch.
